The cost of living is well below the national average while the median income level in 2004 was $51,435, well above average. With the cost of housing more affordable than most other communities, it has attracted a population growth rate of over 120% from 1990 to 2000. Avondale has not lost sight of the importance of supporting its community with city parks, recreational areas and several nature trails, which are found throughout the city.
